ZPE Cloud Infrastructure - IPv6 Support

Release: November 18th, 2024

ZPE Cloud now supports IPv6 and IPv4 to future-proof your network infrastructure, providing greater flexibility and enhanced connectivity options.

How does ZPE Cloud IPv6 support benefit you?

Nodegrid devices with IPv6-only addresses can now seamlessly connect and be managed through ZPE Cloud without needing any bridging mechanisms. ZPE Cloud uses secure connections for the users, such as those using 4G/5G carriers with IPv6-only addresses, to manage their devices effortlessly.

This enhancement ensures that users can continue adopting IPv6, knowing that ZPE Cloud fully supports their network evolution.

What changes occur after IPv6 implementation?

• The Shift to IPv6 as the Primary Protocol:  With this update, ZPE Cloud will primarily utilize IPv6 addresses for its services. If your network and devices support IPv6, your connection with ZPE Cloud will automatically transition to IPv6 without any additional action required.

• No action required for IPv4: If your WAN infrastructure only supports IPv4, no action is required. Your environment will continue to function as it did before.

• Automatic Transitioning: The switch to IPv6 is fully automatic. No updates to your Nodegrid devices or modifications on the ZPE Cloud platform are needed. ZPE Cloud handles this update in the background for a smooth and effortless experience.

ACTION REQUIRED:

Firewall Compatibility: To ensure a smooth transition, make sure your firewalls are configured to allow traffic to the new IPv6 addresses. This will help maintain uninterrupted service. Review your firewall settings and adjust them as needed.

If you have previously allowed ZPE Cloud's IPv4 addresses in your firewall for outbound communication, you will need to update your firewall settings to include the new IPv6 addresses (if your infrastructure supports IPv6). ZPE Cloud Infrastructure - Global IP Change

Release: September 13th, 2024

We have expanded the ZPE Cloud infrastructure to enhance its capacity and efficiency. As part of this upgrade, we are updating our IP addresses. This change may affect users who have allowed list of ZPE Cloud IPs in their firewall for internal-to-external communication.

ACTION REQUIRED:

If you have ZPE Cloud IPs in your allowed list of IPs, update your allow-list by adding the new IP addresses. Refer to the article Getting Started with ZPE Cloud for information on the list of supported IP addresses.

Ensure all new IP addresses are added to your allow-list by Friday, September 13th, 2024. After this date, only the new IPs will remain functional.

NOTE

If you do not use an IP allow-list to block internal-to-external communication, no action is needed.
